Choose the right conversion mode
Editable Text
Use Editable Text when you need to change, copy or reuse the words from a PDF. The converter reads selectable text, estimates the original line order and font sizes, and rebuilds that content in a DOCX file. It works best with normal reports, letters, statements and other text-heavy documents.
Preserve Appearance
Use Preserve Appearance when the PDF is scanned, highly designed or difficult to reconstruct as editable text. Each PDF page is rendered in your browser and placed into the Word document as a page image. The result looks much closer to the PDF, although individual words and objects on those page images are not editable.

Why PDF to Word cannot always be pixel-perfect and editable at the same time
PDF files describe where text, shapes and images appear on a fixed page. Word documents use paragraphs, runs, tables, sections and flowing page layout. Reconstructing one structure from the other is not always exact, especially with multi-column layouts, unusual fonts, floating objects, forms and complex tables. That is why this tool provides two different conversion modes instead of pretending that one method is perfect for every PDF.
Scanned PDFs
A scanned PDF is usually a collection of page images rather than selectable text. For these files, use Preserve Appearance. The current converter does not perform OCR, so it does not invent editable text from scanned images. This keeps the tool lightweight and avoids sending documents to an external OCR provider.
Privacy
The conversion runs in your browser. In Editable Text mode, selectable PDF text is extracted into editable Word content. In Preserve Appearance mode, each page is rendered and placed into the DOCX to retain the original look more closely.
